I am directing my blog entry to the issue with crime against the homosexual community. This issue hits close to home because I have many close friends who happen to be gay. To me of course, my friends are normal human beings just as any of my other friends and no different. However, this is not the same to a lot of people in our society. I agree with the fact that because they love differently, close-minded individuals feel that this is wrong, immoral and should be punished. I have witnessed these horrible beatings, and have heard my friends stories on the physical and emotional abuse they have endured.
I wish that our society would stop caring so much about who people love, or their preferences because there are bigger issues in this world. The sad thing is, that most of the people who hate on homosexuals and accuse them of being wrong and immoral and disgusting, are the same people who are committing adultery, or theft in some way, or could be mean and hateful people, but to them that okay because they aren't gay. A lot of the hate comes from a lot of the Christian community who think and force the fact that it is wrong to be gay. I am Catholic, and can argue that it says nothing on the ten commandments about being gay or not. I hope and pray that one day people open their minds and see people as they are, people. I will admit that we have come a very long way in our acceptance of all types of people and interests and I am very proud of my generation for creating a better more open place.
very interesting entry! I am also catholic, and I have no problem with the homosexual community. When I was little, I was taught in private catholic school, to love my neighbor as myself. I agree, that there are bigger problems in the world.

ReplyDeleteI think the main problem here is lack of opportunity. I always tell people, give yourself opportunity and meet other people you think you hate and you will see there are good and bad everywhere. I know many people in armed force member, many of them hates Muslims as the result of wars. I was trying to explain for them, war is unusual environment, if you meet them in different environment, you might change your mind. The person who hates gays, probably never had gay friend, but you have. so you know they are people just like us, but others never give themselves that opportunity to be friend with them so they hate them.
